Connecting an external audio device
If the portable audio device has a 1/8-inch audio output, follow these steps to connect the device to your Companion® 2 speakers:
- Connect the 1/8-inch plug of a 1/8-inch stereo-to-dual RCA adapter cable to the audio output jack of the portable audio device. It may be labeled "Line OUT" or "Headphone OUT"
Note: If you have an original Apple® iPhone®, which has a recessed 1/8-inch audio output jack, you may need an adapter to make this connection. - Insert the pair of RCA connectors into available left and right AUDIO INPUT jacks on the back of the right speaker
If the portable audio device has a 1/4-inch audio output, follow these steps to connect the device to your Companion 2 speakers:
- Insert the 1/4-inch connector of a stereo 1/4-inch male-to-dual RCA adapter cable to the audio output jack of the portable audio device. It may be labeled "Line OUT" or "Headphone OUT"
- Insert the pair of RCA connectors into available left and right AUDIO INPUT jacks on the back of the right speaker
If the portable audio device has a stereo RCA audio output, follow these steps to connect the device to your Companion 2 speakers:
- Insert one pair of RCA connectors at one end of a stereo RCA interconnect cable to the audio output jacks of the portable audio device. It may be labeled "Line OUT" or "Audio OUT"
- Insert the other pair of RCA connectors into available left and right AUDIO INPUT jacks on the back of the right speaker
